one of Time’s 10 most popular stories this week
This article is brilliant.
…and yet in its comment section I quickly found this white-knight who was all “I’m deep into tumblr feminism and I haven’t seen any man-hate. Show me five links of that” - dude, there’s a dozen links to that in the article.
But ya, awesome article. Great to get some mainstream recognition on this
imagine a video game where you create a hero whose destiny is to save everyone, but throughout the game you start making harder and more questionable decisions, and the game gets darker and darker. and in the end…
Yup, Spec Ops: The Line is this from start to finish.
I like her design. I want to see more of this character!
Last night something magical happened.
On 4chan’s /tg/ a thread discussing Objectivism unfolded - and even /pol/ regulars were shocked to see that for almost 3 hours 4chan had a civil and sensible discussion about the pros and cons of the philosophy. It was /tg/ at its very finest.
Aspects of Shadowrun as an objectivist paradise/hell were touched on, micro-nations bordering Eqypt, and overall the unrealistic nature of the philosophy if applied fully into the modern world was slowly and calmly talked over.
I have never in my life been able to find a discussion on this topic that didn’t just devolve into a shouting match, bans/blocks and similar less than civil ends to the discussion elsewhere on the internet… but on /tg/ the magic still happens.
I still remember back in 2009 when I managed to start a furry thread on /tg/:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/3400562/ - I was the OP. It lasted for hours and was just a calm and curious discussion about furry webcomics, furry artists and the furry community. It took 12 hours before even the first semblance of a troll appeared.
This is what I love about 4chan and /tg/ especially: You can come there, uncloaked of lies and what others might think of you - and speak your mind freely. You will only be judged by the merits of what you say, not on preconceived notions based on your personal background or appearance. Sure, not all boards have a civil tone to begin with, but that’s where /tg/ shines.
Hell, M00t once even said that he wished that the other boards would be more like /tg/ in terms of civility.
